Systemsmith ZipData-US provides a one-year subscription to a US Postal Service 5-digit zip code database and a DLL for performing forward and reverse lookups. Imagine an address data entry solution where your user skips straight to the zip code field, types 5 digits and the city and state are filled in automatically! The result is faster data entry, fewer errors, and improved customer satisfaction. That’s what Systemsmith ZipData-US can do for your applications.

ZipData-US combines a DLL and a one-year data subscription. The binary data file packs all the valid 5-digit US zip codes with their associated cities and states into a file size of only 1.3MB.

The DLL provides functions for both the forward and reverse lookup. These functions perform the binary index searches and decompress the data. The DLL returns the valid state and cities for a particular zip code, identifying those cities as preferred, acceptable, or unacceptable according to the US Postal Service. Conversely, the DLL returns all the valid zip codes for a city and state.

The DLL actually contains two interfaces. One is an OLE interface, provided through an internal type library, which makes the DLL easy to use from Visual Basic or other environments that use OLE Automation. The other interface is for non-OLE compatible use and provides C/C++ style and Pascal style function prototypes. You can use whichever interface is easier to implement from your development environment.

Each subscription includes a site license allowing the data file and DLL to be distributed throughout the site. Monthly updates are provided as part of the subscription service. OEM licenses are also available for inclusion with commercial off the shelf software. Please inquire. Per US Postal Service requirements, the data file expires 105 days after issuance.
